Welcome to the ZEN Beta!
Current Version: build 264 You have been chosen to participate in the ZEN Beta to assist in identifying bugs before they are released to the public. We truly hope you enjoy this opportunity to preview the new card set. Please take a few moments to read over these simple rules of bug reporting and conduct to make everyone’s experience the best it can be as well as help us make the best use of the information you gather. Beta Update Instructions To join the beta server OR update to the current beta version: 1. Copy your normal MTGO folder to a new folder. Please make sure your live client is updated before copying. If you have been in previous betas, please do a fresh copy each new beta. [You only need to do this step once per beta] 2. Open your MTGO beta folder> DownloadServer.txt 3. Copy this url over current url in DownloadServer.txt in your MTGO beta folder so the updater points at the beta server: Code:
http://mtgodownload1beta.onlinegaming.wizards.com/mtgov3beta/ 5. Use your normal login/password. 6. Be sure to join the Support room upon logging in. Click the "Chat with Support" button on the HOME page. Support Staff The MtGO ORC Team will provide online support during the following hours to answer questions, and offer assistance. Members of the QA team will be around randomly. Test Team: Weekdays (M-F) 8:00am - 8:00pm PST Weekends 8:00am - 8:00pm PST I encourage everyone to come up with as many off-the-wall test cases as they can. If you have any questions or needs feel free to come to the Chat with Support room and ask. Although this set is not secret, we still ask to you refrain from discussing what goes on in Beta with people not already participating in Beta. Thank you all for your time and effort in making this set the best it can be for all of the MtGO community. We truly hope you have a great time with ZEN. Bug Reporting The way you report bugs has changed! Email bugs to OnlineGamesQA@wizards.com! Use the standard format of Name and summary. Detailed repro steps, the actual result and the expected result. As a Beta tester, we hope you will pay close attention and supply as much information as possible regarding your bug. We also ask that you add any bugs to the ZEN bug checklist to aid others in the testing process. This forum is a Beta tester maintained forum, and is a group effort. If you have further questions regarding this forum, contact Bubba0077 in game or send him a private message through these boards. Please DO NOT submit bugs unless you have the correct version (see update instructions above). Known Issues Along with our bug submission form, the Known Issues List is also changing. The list is being maintained on these forums and can be found at http://betaboards.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=860 We will be manually updating this list daily. Most bugs are also reported in the ZEN bug checklist, often before they make it through the QA process to appear on the checklist. This is also a great resource if you want an idea of what still needs to be tested. Conduct *** Any infraction may result in the loss of your Beta privileges. *** • While the beta environment is much more laid-back than live, the Code of Conduct still applies. • All users should join the Chat with Support room upon logging into beta. This room is used to communicate with the Dev staff and coordinate testing. Unlike live, general chat is accepted (and encouraged) in the Support on beta. • Dropping, stalling and other unsportsmanlike behavior is prohibited on beta. • Playing in multiple events or dropping prematurely from events is prohibited. • Donot concede simply because you expect to lose. A card can't be tested if you concede in response to it. • The purpose of beta is to search for bugs, not to win or tweak your new constructed deck. Please see the Competitive Play policy below for guidelines. • Any public use of images taken from MTGO beta will result in having their account banned. If the violation of these rules is interfering with your ability to test please report the abuser to a support staff member *immediately*. Competitive Play Policy General: Do not enter more than one event at a time. Do not drop from events prematurely. If you do need to leave for some real-life reason, please explain & apologize to your opponent. Disconnecting with lethal damage on the stack, name-calling, and other unsportsmanlike behavior are not tolerated and grounds for loss of Beta privileges. BE NICE! Premiere/Draft Events: You may play in as many PEs or drafts in the sanctioned draft room as you like. You can "play to win" in PEs and drafts, and expect your opponents to do the same. If you find something you suspect as being a bug ask for assistance in re-creating that bug in the Support room after your match. If it turns out to be a bug REPORT IT! Vanguard: Obviously, play with the new avatars is encouraged. Additionally, if you believe one of the new avatars is 'broken' i.e. too powerful, feel free to construct an abusive deck and pilot it against people playing the most powerful Vanguard decks from live. If an avatar turns out to be broken, start a thread about it walking through the broken-ness. (Oni of Wild Places was altered during SoK beta in this way) This does not however allow you to play the avatars competitively against random opponents; each competitive-type game should have at least one player trying to break a new avatar. This is the only legitimate competitive constructed permitted on beta, so enjoy it. Multiplayer: Multiplayer games are strongly encouraged during beta. Don't feel constrained to report just ZEN bugs, report any issues you find in your multiplayer games. We hope you enjoy being in Beta, The MTGO QA Crew Last edited by KenR : 09-28-2009 at 08:27 PM. |
